About Refinement is Resistance
Personal style is stealth power, optics underscore our substance, and solidarity is what we have left to save us.
Refinement is Resistance is my way of fighting back, by celebrating diplomacy through fashion, and vice versa. Soft style creates hard power — and fashion, grace, elegance, inclusion, and refinement offer transcendence. My mission is to resist the current regime through style and humor.
Bergdorf Goodman, Vogue, and The New York Times — where I spent my formative years in fashion PR and publishing — inform my perspective. I then somehow survived six years working in oceans diplomacy within the United Nations and now currently bounce between New York and Washington, D.C., and (whenever possible) Paris and London, too.
Refinement is Resistance publishes three times a week. On Wednesdays and Fridays, expect an essay connecting politics, history, and style; regularly connected with a fashion insider. On Sundays, you will separately receive tips and lessons learned from my late 90s days spent under the thumb of not just Anna Wintour, but the real life “Mr. Big” too. Sunday’s column is called “Core Curriculum: Everything You Need to Know I Learned at Vogue”- which you really must not miss.
What am I really doing here?
I’m working to be a small part of the change I want to see.
As a wife, mother of three, and proud owner of two completely perfect chiens named Posey and Clifford I want to make their world a kinder and better place; and of course, more elegant. I would be honored to have you join my one woman alliance, to work together- to save the world.
